LFS Refund Policy
The London Film School has approved the following policy regarding the payment of refunds of tuition fees. The purpose of this policy is to explain to students, sponsors and staff when refund of tuition fees will be made by the School and how they will be calculated.
The School operates 3 terms per year – September, January and April or May.Once you have started your course of study, you have committed to paying your fees in full.
Full Refund of Tuition Fees Paid
You will receive a full refund of tuition fees paid if one of the following conditions is true:
- The School is unable to provide the academic course offered
- The School withdraws an offer of enrolment for any reason (except if you provided us with incomplete or incorrect information – see section 2)
- (International Students only) You cannot take up your place at the School because you cannot obtain a student visa. In this case, you must let us know in writing and include a copy of the rejection letter received from the relevant British Authority in your country (Embassy, High Commission or similar)
Partial Refunds of Tuition Fees Paid
You will receive a partial refund of tuition fees paid if one of the following conditions is true:
- You do not enrol in time for the start of your course, having accepted the offer of a place.
- The School withdraws an offer or cancels your registration on a course, because you provided us with incorrect and/or incomplete information in your application.
Partial refunds will be calculated as follows:
Tuition fees due are calculated as follows
- For students on the 2 year MA Filmmaking course, tuition fees are paid termly and are due on or before the first day of each term. You will be charged for each term that you have started.
- All other courses. Fees due are paid in full on or before the first day of the course.
- If you were asked to pay a deposit as a condition of our offer, and accept the offer of a place but then decide not to enrol, your deposit will not be returned even if you notify us of your decision before the start date of your course.
- If you were awarded a scholarship which was subject to your satisfactory academic performance and/or payment of tuition fees, the full scholarship will be withdrawn if you withdraw from the School.
Exceptional Circumstances
The School will consider exceptional circumstances to those described above on a case by case basis on direct application to the Head of Studies.
Withdrawing/Deferring from Your Course
If you wish to withdraw or defer from your course you must first contact your Head of Studies for approval. Please note that the Head of Studies will not authorise any refund of tuition fees at this stage.
How to Request a Refund
You should write to The Director of Operations. Refund cheques will be made payable to the person or institution who paid the fees. You can then collect the refund from the agent in person when you return home.
Monitoring the Policy
The Head of Studies/Director of Operations will be responsible for monitoring the School’s Refund Policy to ensure consistency of application.
