Technical Drawing for Film and Television with David McHenry

21st July - 1st August 2008

A 2-week Introductory Workshop

Introduction

This two week course will give skills and confidence to those who have little or no ability in technical drawing within the Art Department. Anyone with commitment and drive can learn to draught.

Using a Designer's rough sketch plan and notes, a complete set of scale drawings will be created by the end of the two weeks, fit for a Construction Manager to use. A step by step approach, with the course running at each participant's pace, will enable everyone to understand all the principle and fundamental techniques of draughting. Being able to read a drawing is as important as creating one, so examples of different styles are analysed and explained.

As no two draughtsmans' work is ever the same, the course offers many choices for creating one's own personal style. Back-up reference for period styles of architecture and ornamentation, along with basic drawing geometry notes, are given out at each stage of the course.

This is an intense but very rewarding course, past students constantly being surprised at their achievements! It will enable you to develop within the Art Department with new found abilities and core craft skills that are sorely lacking within the industry.
