Steve Haynes is a freelance audio engineer with over forty years experience working in film and TV. Over the years his repertoire has included mixing feature films, feature film trailers, adverts for film and TV, high end TV drama and documentary, HD laybacks and conforms, and ADR recording for feature films and TV.

For the last eleven years he has worked at three different post-production houses in Soho.

Steve was previously employed at Yorkshire Television in Leeds where he was based in the Film Department, working in both production and post production areas. During this period YTV had very busy Drama and Documentary departments supplying programmes for the whole ITV network. Over time Steve rose through the ranks to become the Head of Post Production Sound.
While holding this position Steve continued to work as a mixer and was fortunate to work on some of the most successful programmes on the ITV network, “Darling Buds of May”, “Touch of Frost” and very many episodes of the award winning documentary series “First Tuesday”.

Steve was responsible for updating the sound department during the changeover to Digital Audio Workstations, and installed the first AMS-Neve Logic 2 digital fully automated mixing desk. He also introduced both Stereo and Dolby Pro-logic surround to the ITV network.

In 1997 Steve relocated to Soho to work on 5.1 Dolby Digital format on feature films. While there he designed ,and then worked in, four 5.1 studios and multiple sound design suites used mainly for dubbing feature films and ADR recording.

During this time he was a judge on the factual sound jury for the BAFTA craft awards, and also gave lectures at the AES and at INTERBEE (an exhibition in Japan) on dubbing in surround for TV. He has frequently given talks to students on various sound related courses, such as the BKSTS course, and at the Gerasimov Film Institute in Moscow.
